Rita Baleiro is a senior lecturer of English for Specific Purposes and Portuguese Language and Culture at the School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism (ESGHT) of the University of Algarve. Currently, she is the chair of the department of English and Portuguese Languages of this School, and member of the School’s scientific board. In 2002, she was invited to join the editorial board of Dos Algarves: A Multidisciplinary e-Journal and she has been co-chief-editor of this journal since 2007. She is a researcher at the Centre for English, Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies (CETAPS) from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Oporto and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the New University of Lisbon. She is also member of the research project Lit&Tour: Literature and Tourism (a joined project by ESGHT and the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon). Rita Baleiro holds an undergraduate degree in Modern Languages and Literatures – Portuguese and English Studies from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the New University of Lisboa (1993) and a Masters’ degree in Anglo-Portuguese Studies from the same university (2001). She completed her PhD in Literary and Literacy Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the New University of Lisbon in 2012. Rita Baleiro has participated in several national and international conferences and published in national and international refereed journals.
