Ana Maria Ferreira is a senior lecturer at the Sociology Department, School of Social Sciences, University of Évora. She lectured at the University of the Algarve's School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism for many years where she taught in the field of Tourism, and  where she was responsible for courses at the undergraduate, masters and doctoral level, of national and international range. She is delegate Director of the Doctoral Programme in Tourism of the University of the Algarve. As a member of the Coordination team of CITeL Centre for Tourism and Leisure Studies she is responsible for the research team on Culture, Markets and Creative Experiences. She was also part of the Coordination teams of the Masters programmes in Tourism Organizations Management, Tourism Destinations Management and Development and European Tourism Management. She is an invited lecturer the University of Aveiro and has supervised various PhD theses and Masters dissertations. Ana Maria Ferreira holds undergraduate degrees in Tourism from the Instituto Superior de Novas Profissões,(Lisbon) and History (specialization in History of Art) from the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and a Masters degree in Contemporary History of Art from the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. In 2003, she completed her PhD in Tourism at the Department of Economics, Management and Industrial Engineering of the University of Aveiro. She has several academic publications, both national and international, in the field of Tourism, and is a member of scientific boards for conferences and international journals.
